Privacy Policy

Playback keeps a coach’s lessons for that coach and the student each lesson is for. We don’t sell personal information, show ads, or use advertising or analytics trackers.

Effective October 12, 2026. Playback (playback.golf, app.playback.golf and the Playback iPhone app) is run by AimPoint Golf (“we”). Questions: mark@aimpointgolf.com.

What we collect

  • Your account: your name and email address, and whether you’re a coach or a student. Signing in uses a code we email you, so there is no password to store. If you sign in with Apple or Google, they send us your name and email address. With Apple’s Hide My Email, they send a private relay address instead.
  • Lessons: recordings (audio and video), files you upload, transcripts you paste, and photos. Also each lesson’s title and date, and the student it’s for.
  • What Playback makes from lessons: the transcript, any corrections to it, and a searchable index of the lesson’s text.
  • Ask: the questions you ask and the answers Playback gives, kept as your Ask history.
  • Coaching relationships: a coach’s students and groups, and the email address of each student a coach invites.
  • Payments: a coach’s plan, trial and billing status. Stripe takes the card, and we never see or store card numbers.
  • Your phone: if you allow notifications in the iPhone app, a notification token, so we can tell you when a lesson is ready.
  • Logs: our hosting records requests (IP address, browser, time) for security and fixing problems. Sign-in records keep the time and a scrambled form of each code.
  • Messages to us: whatever you write when you contact us.

How we use it

Only to run Playback:

  • sign you in;
  • store, transcribe and index lessons;
  • answer Ask questions from your lessons, with the moment each answer comes from;
  • send sign-in codes, invitations and lesson-ready notices;
  • bill coaches’ plans;
  • keep the service secure and working.

We don’t use your lessons to train AI models, and we tell our transcription provider not to either.

Who can see your lessons

A lesson is seen only by the coach who taught it and the student it’s for. Ask answers draw only on lessons the person asking can already see. Lessons are never public, and never shared with other coaches.

How long we keep it

  • While your account is open, we keep your lessons and history.
  • Delete a lesson and its recording, transcript and index are removed.
  • Delete your account in the app (Account, then Delete account) and we delete it within 7 days.
    • A coach’s deletion removes every lesson they taught, their students list, their groups and their billing record. Their students keep their own accounts.
    • A student’s deletion removes every lesson about them.
  • Backups roll over on our database provider’s schedule, and deleted information leaves them as they do.
  • Records the law requires, such as payment records, we keep for as long as it requires.

Your choices

  • See or correct your information: in the app, or by writing to us.
  • Get a copy of your lessons: write to us, and we answer within 30 days.
  • Delete your account: in the app (Account, then Delete account), or by writing to us.
  • Notifications: turn them off in your phone’s settings.
  • State privacy rights: if your state gives you rights over your information (California, for example), write to us and we’ll honor them. We don’t sell or share personal information for advertising.

Children and young students

Playback isn’t for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. Students 13 to 17 use Playback with a parent’s or guardian’s permission. If we learn we hold a child’s information, we delete it.

Security

Everything travels encrypted, and our providers encrypt stored data. Database rules keep each person to the lessons they may see. Sign-in codes and invitation links are stored only in scrambled form, and each works once.

Changes

We’ll post any change here with a new date. If it matters to how your information is used, we’ll email account holders first.
